Since 1999, Pepin Academies has been a leader in charter school education for students with specific learning and learning-related disabilities. Pepin Academies currently serves 1,200 students across two counties at campuses in Tampa, Riverview, and New Port Richey.

In 2008, the Pepin Transition Program was created to provide a comprehensive individualized program of vocationally based training in conjunction with life and job readiness courses for young adults ages 18 to 22. The program has since evolved to offer more opportunities at job sites to provide the hands-on, pre-vocational training opportunities necessary when developing employability and workforce transition skills. Interested in becoming a sponsor? ABOUT OUR TRANSITION PROGRAM

Some students have a plan to go to college after high school and others may want to obtain employment. Some students may be unsure of what their next steps will be. Our Transition Program can support students that may need just a little bit more time and experience before their next step whatever their path may look like.

Pepin Academies Transition is a comprehensive individualized program of vocationally based training for young adults, ages 18-22, who have learning or learning-related disabilities. With deferment of a high school diploma, our Transition Program provides life and job training skills through hands-on experiences to explore various career pathways. This program is state funded and is provided at no cost to the student.

In addition to classroom and community-based instruction for career exploration, we provide classes for social emotional functioning skills, self-determination and self-advocacy skills, employability, and independent functioning skills for adulthood. Various pre-vocational experiences allow our students to have real work training with ongoing support and supervision from our Job Coaches, ESE Teacher and Transition Director.

EXPECTATIONS

It is important that students can follow rules and safety guidelines that are implemented. Students work in a variety of settings and must remain professional and courteous. Students are expected to be at each of their job locations at the appropriate time. Students are more independent and have less supervision than on a school campus. Students must be able to safely navigate these areas with minimal support.

Our goal is to have every classroom adopted! Any individual or business may sponsor or “adopt” a classroom to help equip teachers and students with needed school supplies for the 2021-2022 school year. We're thrilled to announce that we have raised $23,000 so far!

Once a classroom is adopted, 100% of your contribution goes directly towards academic enrichments. The teachers are given the opportunity to determine how best to spend the money in their classrooms, such as purchasing computer software, books, visual aids, and more. Together, we can continue to empower students with learning disabilities to maximize their potential in a positive educational environment!
