Brigitte W. Shaw, M.B.A., B.S.I.E.

Brigitte Shaw is currently the Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer for Florida Hospital Tampa.  Her areas of responsibility include business development and all service line strategy, leading market focused business development initiatives, developing business partners, developing and growing physician enterprise by physician employment. She leads the Florida Hospital Tampa business development team, and she also leads University of South Florida affiliations and contracts.

She was formally the Chief Operating Officer of Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute & Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute.  She was also the Executive in charge of Women’s Health, Neuroscience and Business Development. 

She was originally appointed Chief Executive Officer of Pepin Heart Hospital & Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute in January 2004. Her areas of responsibility included the new freestanding digital Pepin Heart Hospital & Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, developing the Academic Affiliation with the University of South Florida, and overseeing the Information Systems department for University Community Health. 

Previously, Brigitte held the Chief Operations Officer position for University Community Health, the corporate umbrella for University Community Hospital and University Community Hospital–Carrollwood in Tampa, Sun Coast Hospital in Largo and Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs.  Brigitte has been with University Community Hospital since April of 1985, initially serving as Director of Management Support.  She has held various VP positions prior to her COO role and areas of responsibility have included the creation and development of many of the Centers of Excellence, including: Women’s Services, Diabetes Care Institute, Center for Cancer Care as well as strategic planning, regulatory, and business development. Prior to joining UCH she was with Unisys as an Industrial Engineer and Proposal Negotiator for new product launches. 

Brigitte earned her Bachelors in Industrial Engineering and Management Systems and her MBA from the University of South Florida. Professional and community affiliations include: Board Member of the American Heart Association, , USF Alumni Member, Health Care Women’s Advisory Board, American Health Association Go Red Chair (2010), USF Heart Research Institute Advisory Board, Pepin Academies Board Member, Executive Committee of the Starlight Ball and the Lake Magdalene Elementary PTA.  She has two children – Brett, 27 and a daughter Alexandra, 23.
